in my island

Without the political brouhahas, the Philippines is still a dang rockin good place after all. Why?
For one thing, next to pure Jamaican reggae, southern phi reggae makes listening to OPM worthwhile.
For one thing, take Junior Kilat. (see www.juniorkilat.com)
So many local Pinoy artist try hard to sound and be westernized. So what?
Junior Kilat and many others like this band got out of the superfially western mold and look at them now. Sooner or later, even those who doesn't understand cebuano will be listening to them.
Stil, there's danger. Getting into the mainstream endangers what's good about the likes of Gaucho, hemp republic, and budoy's band (jr.kilat).
***omg, they'll be prone to piracy!***
anyway, here's an example: everybody wears the "green-yellow-red" band, wears uncle bob's shirt, even gets overboard with dreads "just beacause it looks different"... but i bet most of them are clueless of what those things really mean. so, if ever southern reggae would get into the mainstream, the music would just be like bob's face found anywhere and everywhere... southern reggae would just be played and overplayed and sung over andover until it gets so banal to the point that it would lose its beauty.
